Eyelash extensions are individual or fanned strands of synthetic or mink fibers made to replicate natural eyelashes. When applied to natural eyelashes they give you that perfect boost of length and thickness hoping to achieve depending on the health of your natural lashes. The strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural. For a fuller look it is highly recommended to get them re-touched every 2 weeks because each person’s natural lash growth is somewhat different.
Yes, your lash extensions can get wet after 24 hours of application (fill or full set). This is because wetting your lashes before the lashes have reached their max bonding (before 24 hours) they can weaken causing poor retention. After that time period is over, wetting your lashes is recommended in order to keep them clean and oil free. This creates a better retention rate and allows your lashes to stay clean free of possible infection. Lash extensions are pool and beach-safe but washing them after such activities is highly recommended for best retention rates. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.
What is used during the process of applying your extensions is of course, Mink Individual Lashes (sizes may range from 6mm to 17mm) Once a size is selected, the mink lash is applied one by one on to a individual natural eyelash using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue (Please never hesitate to let our lash technician know if you have any allergies to any products they are using) that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one’s sensitivity. (Please request this prior to your appointment so we can accommodate your needs for your selected date) For instance, with glue for sensitive eyes, oil-based products or makeup removers around the eye area are not recommended.
Prior to your appointment, try your best to arrive without any eye makeup, Do not curl your lashes or wear mascara the day before and the day of your appointment. It will help minimize the cleanup time and more time for lashing.
Good news, no they don’t! When isolated and applied properly your natural lashes will not fall out. Since each extension is attached to a single natural eyelash, they often fall out naturally along with the growth cycle of your natural lashes. However, if you pull, tug or play with your extensions that can cause natural lash loss and can result in permanent lash growth stunt.
No, mascara is not recommended as it is hard to remove from the extensions also putting your eyes at risk for infection due to sanitary reasons and can cause damage to your natural lashes.
